WE MOVED TO…THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
Friday 29th June 2007
Why the Dominican Republic?
We wanted to start a new life, but Spain and France were too expensive for us. A friend had moved here and loved it. We came out in June 2005 and liked it so much we decided to move here.
How do your homes differ?
We used to live in in a four-bedroom house in Saltdean, a Brighton suburb. Here, we're spending £55,000 having a two-bed apartment built nearby. Until that's finished we're renting a house in Cabarete, a popular tourist town on the island's north coast.
What's the island like?
It's very mountainous and lush in the north and dry in the south. In mid-summer the temperatures reach the high nineties, but a sea breeze makes it tolerable. From October to May it's the rainy season, but never cold.
