Why did you move to Dubai?
I work for a TV company who decided to close their London base and relocate to Dubai.
How does your present home compare with London?
I've traded a tiny two-bed flat in Tooting, south London for a two-bed villa with garden. The area is a little bit Stepford Wives, but the space is fantastic. On the downside, rents here have more than doubled since I arrived.
Financially, is your quality of life better?
People used to come here to save money, as we don't pay taxes. But with the cost of living rising and companies offering fewer incentives to move, that's changing. Quality of life is generally better, but it's pricey. Alcohol is very expensive (no surprises, it's a Muslim country), but petrol is dirt cheap. I can fill up my car for £7.
